Overview
During this workshop, participants learned about a new tool that makes it possible to measure waste without having access to waste hauler data: the Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager® waste and materials tracking system. This workshop included an overview of how GWC participants can use this valuable, FREE tool to better manage their workplace waste and recycling efforts AND earn points in this category.
In addition to the new waste tracker, participants learned other means of reducing waste by using smart purchasing decisions, reuse, material donation, and composting and recycling. Participants heard from experts who provide waste and materials management services across the southwestern Pennsylvania region, as well as organizations pursuing ambitious materials management goals.
