The Pittsburgh region has become known for its environmental transformation. However, our region still struggles with high levels of pollutants in our air. Join Sustainable Pittsburgh to learn more about how air quality is impacting health in our region, and what you can do to improve air quality, productivity and quality of life in our region. This workshop will also examine how you can participate in current research that will help our region improve air quality far into the future.

Special Event: Sustainable Breakfast at the Pittsburgh Zoo

8:00 am - 9:30 am at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium

Join Sustainable Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium for a special breakfast at the award-winning Jambo Grill to celebrate the sustainability successes of Service Systems Associates (SSA)! SSA manages the daily operations of the Zoo’s food and retail concessions, including those related to special events. In 2015, SSA opened Jambo Grill, a certified three-star facility of the Green Restaurant Association. Jambo Grill earned Gold Plate designation as a Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurant in 2017. During the breakfast, hear how SSA is using a sustainability-first approach and encouraging their employees to do the same.  At the end of the program, Margie Marks, Curator of Conservation Education, will lead a behind the scenes visit with some of the animals.

Sustainability on a Budget: How to Implement Low-Cost Actions and Find Funding for More

GWC 4.0 Finale and Awards Ceremony

In 2015, Sustainable Pittsburgh celebrated the achievements of 49 organizations who saved over $1.5 million in energy costs, 28.5 million gallons of water, and diverted 436 tons of waste from landfills through their participation in the Green Workplace Challenge. The 2016-2017 Green Workplace Challenge has 129 competing organizations, who are aiming even higher. Be among the first to learn what a difference their actions have made, and celebrate the achievements of our region's sustainability leaders.
